Year 5-13 Swimming Sports

Julie Evans —

In warm morning temperatures the students participated in one of four sections of the programme.

On Tuesday over 170 students made the most of the opportunity to cool off in the pool competing in length events, or enjoying a range of activities with noodles and kick boards in the shallow end of the pool or small pool.

Due to the low numbers in Y9-13 they joined the Y7/8 swimmers in the competitive events. We witnessed some close races plus an impressive display of quality skills from certain individuals. To conclude this part of the programme we had Y7/8 students who preferred to do the activities in the shallow end with different equipment. Lots of fun. The Y7/8 House Relays were exciting and lots of cheering supported the swimmers.

At 11:45am the Year 5/6 students competed in their length events, then the width and small pool activities section. The temperatures certainly encouraged the students to get into the pool as often as they could. Huge thanks to Mr Pulley for getting the gear to and from the pool. Thanks also to the parents who helped with time keeping. Without the support and help of teachers it would not be possible to run these opportunities for our students, thanks to you all. The Lifeguards at the Oxford Pool were amazing to ensure all ran smoothly too.
