Rebecca Jones shoots gold

Mike Hart —

An update of Rebecca's success at the Oceania Championships

During the school holidays our resident Archery champ in year 12, Rebecca Jones travelled to New Caledonia to represent her country at the Oceania Championships. The championships was also a Youth Olympic Games qualifier.

On the Tuesday Rebecca won a gold medal for her division as well as gold for the top score in all the Women's Divisions for the commonwealth countries.

The following day, in difficult weather conditions, Rebecca managed to pull off a Youth Olympic Games qualifying score of 602 and was seeded first. In her matchplay she finished up in the bronze medal match, which she won the next day taking out the bronze medal.

On the last day and coming down to a shoot off, Rebecca took out her match against her fellow New Zealand opponent. This victory led to Rebecca winning the Continental Qualification Tournament. We are all proud of Rebecca and see her dedication and commitment to the sport paying dividends as she continues to succeed at a high level.
