China Trip 2019

14 students from Oxford Area School spent a fantastic 13 days in China visiting some of the amazing sights and also meeting Chinese students and learning about Chinese culture.

14 students and 3 teachers from Oxford Area School had a fantastic time in China over the School Holidays. We spent 3 days in Beijing, seeing the sights. We visited Tianammen Square, the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, The Great Wall, Beijing Zoo. Students also practiced their bartering skills at the Pearl Market (5 floors of stalls). 

We travelled for 6 hours on a Bullet Train (travelling at over 300kmh) to Hangzhou, where we took part as Youth Global Ambassadors in a Camp at a School. 21 NZ students and 60 Chinese Students spent 5 days together, learning about Chinese Culture as well as about NZ culture. We also had trips out. We visited Hangzhou Lakes which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as an internet village and a cultural market.

The beds were very hard but I got used to it (Ella)

Favourite Part

The Great Wall, because the views were amazing, it was hard work & challenged fitness (Ella, Charlize, Jonty & Nicholas)

Larry our tour guide in Beijing, he was really funny and nice (Tamati)

The School was extremely flash and new (Jacob)
