Matt Riley —

Kia ora koutou katoa

With us creeping into July we are already over halfway through the year and closing off another busy term here at school.

The start of next term will see the return of our Principal, Mike Hart who is no doubt refreshed and keen to get back into it after a term on sabbatical. With Mike’s return and Jacqui Paterson, Year 1-6 Deputy Principal, sadly leaving us, there is again going to be movement within the Senior Leadership Team.

Sharyn Varcoe who has been the Acting Principal during Term 2 will move back to her role as Deputy Principal of Years 7-13. Lesley Inch was our Acting Deputy Principal Years 7-13 over this last term and next term moves to the role of Acting Deputy Principal Years 1-6. The process of appointing a permanent Year 1-6 Deputy Principal starting in Term 1 2022 will get underway next term. Justin Thompson was the Acting Assistant Principal during Term 2 and has been reappointed to this position for the rest of the year. Congratulations Lesley and Justin.

The job of a Principal can be a very daunting one with many challenges and long hours of work. Term 2 has been a remarkably busy one with lots happening. Sharyn has fulfilled her duties as the Acting Principal and confidently carried out what has been expected of her. The Board would like to thank Sharyn for the role she has played in Mike’s absence. As with our students, she has probably learnt a lot during this Term. We would also like to thank the rest of the Senior Leadership Team and all staff at Oxford Area School for what they have done over this Term and the year so far.

Enjoy the school break all!

Ngā mihi
