Fusion Term1

David Woodcock —

Kaitiakitanga ...let's make a difference!

Fusion is a collaborative approach to learning from three curriculum areas: Social Science, Technology and Mathematics. It is delivered via project based learning. Each project is assessed against the three subject areas.

This first term of Fusion is focussed on the 'hot topic' of our Environment and specifically our guardianship or care of it. We have asked students to find a project that truly makes a difference to a local environment, hopefully making a positive and enduring change. We already have many exciting ideas being developed such as native planting, trapping, composting and wildlife conservation.

We are already in Week 6 and this Term's OXPO is only 4 weeks away, on Thursday April 4th, 6-7pm. The OXPO is our means of showing off and celebrating the Term's work and we warmly invite all parents and caregivers as well as the wider community to attend. Please come and join us for light refreshments whilst enjoying the successes of our students'.

Attached to this article is the 'Matrix' of tasks from which students select at least 4 activities including the 2 (green) 'must dos'.

You will be able to keep up with project development via weekly updates with EDUCA and these are posted by students.
