Past student's success

Sharyn Varcoe —

April Jones recently graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLSc).

April attended Oxford Area School from 2009 until 2015, culminating in being awarded Dux in her final year.

In 2016 April attended Otago University, after being awarded Dux and Emerging Leaders' of Tomorrow scholarships. She was awarded a Medical Laboratory Science scholarship at the end of her third year.

In late 2019 she graduated with distinction in her chosen field of Medical Laboratory Science. She was also the recipient of the Sandy Smith Prize in Microbiology for being the top microbiology student and the Colin Watts Prize for being the top overall MLSc graduate for 2019.

Currently April is working for Southern Community Laboratories in Oamaru involved in both hospital laboratory and community work.
