Years 5-8 Cross Country

Kendra Ward —

Last Wednesday 16 Years 5-8 students represented OAS at the North Canterbury Cross Country at the Rangiora Showgrounds.

Students from Years 5-8 opted in to compete in the OAS Cross Country on the 23rd of June. It was pleasing to see so many children giving it their best go and we had some excellent results. Well done to all of those children who challenged themselves in this competition. Thank you very much to the parents and staff who supported this event.

As a result, we had 16 students qualify in the Rakahuri Zone to represent OAS on Wednesday 30th July. Congratulations to the following students who did a fantastic job, finishing well and giving it their best shot on a course much hillier than they are used to. Payten Hanham, Sam Froud, Alex McKinney, Xavier Geary, Stella Bourgeois, Titus Smith, Summer Pulley, Paige Wakelin-Noble, Eru Te Awa, Corey Griffiths, Jero Galway, Alice McLauchlan, Nicholas McKinney, Hugo Ebel-Wilson, Charlize Smith & Ella Smith. Thank you very much to Beth Froud, Tash Galway & Janette Griffiths for their support and help at the event.

Well done to Paige who came 3rd, Jero who also came 3rd & Nicholas who came 5th in the Rakahuri Zone. They have all qualified to compete at the Primary Sport Canterbury Cross Country on the 12th of August at Halswell Quarry.
