Prime Ministers Vocational Excellence Award

Paula Christensen —

Adam Norton was awarded the Prime Minister's Vocational Excellence Award at our Senior Prize Giving in 2020. The award comes with a monetary value of $2000.

In 2020 Adam Norton was awarded the Prime Minister's Vocational Excellence Award.

Adam says “I was interested in getting into the Food Industry and chose to take Hospitality at school as well as doing a 2 Day Ara Dual Enrolment course. This gave me lots of experience and insight into being a chef...I was really surprised that I was given this award. My family and friends were all really pleased for me”.

This was certainly evident at Senior Prize Giving when Adam was given a standing ovation with lots of loud cheers from his peers. “The prize money has meant that I have been able to purchase all of my chef equipment and uniforms, as well as having money left over to help with transport to and from Christchurch this year”.

Year 12 and 13 students who are undertaking a vocational pathway and or related subjects can be nominated for the award, if they meet the criteria which includes a number of skills and attributes. The award is intended to help students thrive in their chosen career pathway.
