School council supports Aviva

Sharyn Varcoe —

Last Saturday a group of senior students gave up their time to support a worthy cause.

Eight Years 11-13 students each gave up a few hours of their own time to assist the school council to support a worthy cause last Saturday.

Aviva is an organisation that supports people across Canterbury, including North Canterbury, to overcome the harms of family and sexual violence. Services that they offer include 24 hour phone advice, advocacy and support, Ministry of Justice approved education programmes, "ReachOut" for those using or at risk of using violence and specialist peer support to name just some.

To find out more information about Aviva you can check out their website www.aviva.org.nz Their free 24 hour Canterbury based support line is 0800 28482 669

By the end of Saturday, the collection buckets were heavy filled by the generosity of the public who donated. Well done to the following students for giving service to this cause - Cole Stagg, Liam Bamford, Lauren Morris, Jess Gillespie, Amy Riach, Zara Frahm, Wilani Joubert and Elise Whitwell.
