North Canterbury Primary Schools' Debating competition
OAS Year 7 and 8 students are participating in the North Canterbury Primary Schools’ Debating Competition this term.
In the first round, our team consisting of Aaliyah Williams, Chloe Henderson and Nicholas McKinney competed against Amuri Area School. The moot was ‘That digital technology is making children’s lives better’. Our team had some very convincing arguments. Ethan Ricketts was the adjudicator and was very entertaining. Amuri Area School won this debate but it was very close. Congratulations to Nicholas who was pronounced the 'Best Speaker'.Thanks to Mrs Retallick for being a judge.
Our second team of Alexis Graham, Kade Hannah, Izzy Ashby-Daniels and Emily Harrison are going through to the second round and will compete against Ashgrove School next week. Their moot is ‘That ball sports are better than any other sport’. We wish them well.
