NCEA update

Sharyn Varcoe —

Years 11-13 students have received NCEA information this week during Learning Mentor time.

The handout they received includes information that is specific to 2020 due to the measures NZQA has implemented to reduce the impact of COVID-19 disruptions. So, even if your young person is not new to NCEA, please sit down and read through the information with them.

We are now in Term 3, one of the most important terms for NCEA. This is when much of the learning culminates with internal assessment.
For learning which will be assessed in the end of year examinations (external assessment), there will be practice examinations in week 7 this term, 31 August - 4 September.

School practice examinations are very important for students to undertake with the aim of gaining their best possible grades based on their learning so far. If a student fails to sit an end of year NCEA examination due to a legitimate reason, then their final result will be based on their derived grade from practice examinations. These examinations are also a great opportunity to practice under examination conditions and receive constructive feedback from their teachers.

Students will receive more information closer to the time. In the meanwhile, a reminder that NCEA achievement and progress can be viewed live at any time via the Edge app or the web portal parent.musac.school.nz When accessing the web portal please login using the email you have given the school. Once in, click on your student's name, then the NCEA progress tab.
