The start of a new decade

Welcome back to a new school year. I hope you have all had a restful break and ready to start back on Wednesday 29th January at 9am.

Our staff will be attending staff only days on Monday and Tuesday next week in preparation for the coming year. On Monday we will be facilitated by Pam Wallace taking our staff through the ins and outs of DOT communication - a method The Crusaders rugby team use to communicate. We are looking forward to this workshop.

What to expect on Wednesday

(Buses will be running)

All years 1 – 13 return to school

9.00 – 11am Years 1 - 8 students go straight to their homerooms

  • Year 7/8 Puaka (yellow space in Aotahi)
  • Year 5/6 Whetū Kaupō (green space in Aotahi)
  • Year 3/4 Pūtara (red space in Aotahi)
  • Year 1/2 Respective rooms in the year 1/2 area

9 - 9.15am Year 9 - 13 Assemble in the GP Hall

9.15 - 11am Years 9 - 13 Learning Mentor time

  • All students in years 9 - 13 will be allocated to their learning mentor and will spend the morning with them.

10 - 11am Year 1-13 new students to school assemble in the old library 

  • Our student leaders will collect our new students for a "getting to know you session" with our student leaders, Principal, Deputy Principals and Assistant Principal (new entrants stay in class)

11:30 Mihi Whakatau - Years 1-13, new staff and new students and their families.

  • Held in the GP Hall
  • We have quite a number of new students and staff to formally welcome to Oxford Area School. Parents/caregivers are very welcome to attend.

Normal classes continue after the Mihi Whakatau. Thursday and Friday running as normal school days with our full timetable.
