Extension - Powering Potential

PNGHS —

In December 2020, Meg MacGregor-Dunn represented PNGHS at the national celebration of science and technology excellence Powering Potential.

I was fortunate enough to be one of the 40 top year 12 and 13 STEM students in New Zealand selected to attend Powering Potential in Wellington. Over the course of 4 days, we solved challenging world problems; completing research and finding ways that we can combat them. We were lucky enough to be able to work alongside mentors, who were all Professors in various science fields. At the end of the programme, we presented our findings in front of an audience, including our mentors, the Freemasons, the Royal Society Te Apārangi board and many other members of the public. I am very grateful for this experience and the lifelong connections I made whilst there. What I have taken away from this experience, I will carry with me forever. Students keen to apply for this opportunity should see Dr Meikle.
