Staff Notes
We would like to share some of the staff changes we have had recently.
At the end of 2021 we had a significant change in personnel due to retirements and promotions:
Helen Kinsey-Wightman, our Deputy Principal, left us to become Associate Principal of Tauraroa Area School in Northland. Our Assistant Principal, Stephanie Andrews, left us to take up a position at ERO. Anna Brookie and Brenda Pomana-Whale have stepped into our Deputy Principal roles and we are currently in the process of appointing two other Deputy Principals to join the Senior Leadership Team.
Joanna Crowhurst retired after 34 years with us, latterly as HOD Physical Education and Health and Careers. She has kindly rejoined us on a part time basis in the senior corridor to assist us while we await our new Deputy Principals.
Other teachers who retired at the end of last year also include: Heather Meikle, Kay Georgel, Inge Kampman, Helen Prescott, Karen Carter and Elizabeth Wright. All had given long and loyal service to the school and will be greatly missed but thoroughly deserve the change. The following left us to take up other teaching positions around the country: Samara Doole, Saskia Gilbert and Nikki Weston. Two support staff members also left at the end of the year - Marion Pink, Payroll Administrator and Michelle Cloke, Teacher Aide. We wish them well in their new endeavours.
Some other staff changes include, Donna Manley moving from the Art Department to take up the position of HOD Pathways - overlooking Careers, Gateway and Transition. Amanda Barwick took up the role of HOD Physical Education and Health and Danielle Joe took up the position of HOD Music.
We welcome the following new staff:
Hannah Pacey - Art and Visual Design
Marina Harvie - Science, Biology and Chemistry
Rachel Craig - Science
Suzanne Anderson - Digital Technology
Janelle Hazlitt - Physical Education and Health
Crystelle Jones - Gateway, Tourism and Social Studies
Alice Fennessy - Art and Childcare
Lisa Mudford - Learning Coach
We have secured a new Classics teacher to replace Nikki Weston. Her name is Katherine Mathis and she will be joining us at the beginning of term two. In the meantime, our Classics classes are being supervised by Elizabeth Wright (who has returned from her retirement to help us out) while they learn on Te Kura correspondence.
We have had some significant changes within our Deaning structure. Here is a list of which Deans work with each year level in 2022:

Year 10 - Lisa Mohekey-Johnston and Maryanne Kensington
Year 11 - Rebecca Hall and Ella Cole
