PNGHS —

In 2020 for the 3rd year, the Year 10 Digital Technologies class participated in the Tahi Rua Toru Tech challenge.

This digital challenge solves problems in our school or community using digital technologies. The team called “Three Musketeers”, consisting of Holly Rendall, Charlotte Hagan and Vivian Klempel were admitted to the National final as a wildcard entry. Their project developed an app which helped people know how to do essential first aid in an emergency situation. The team created the app, made original videos for the app and wrote reports on their experiences. During the virtual National interview with the judges, the team explained their journey and answered the questions extremely well. The “Three Musketeers” and their teacher, Mrs Danalize van der Spuy were thrilled to be awarded National Winners in the Junior Secondary category. This award comes with a cash prize and trophy to the students, and a cash prize to the school which will go towards digital equipment to help future students solve digital problems and learn more on their digital tech journey. The finals event can be seen here: 123tech.nz/2020finals

The 123Tech Challenge is for anyone interested from PNGHS, not just DGT students or tech geniuses (although they’re welcome too!) If you would like to get involved this year please see Mrs King in S49 or email n.king@pnghs.school.nz
