Last week Cantatrices attended the Lower North Island Cadenza, a two day choral festival in Whanganui stemming from The Big Sing.

There were twelve choirs from Palmerston North, Wellington, Hawkes Bay, New Plymouth and Wairarapa. They performed two recitals, singing a total of four songs. The adjudicator, Dr Andrew Withington commented on their rich, resonant tone with an awareness of style and musical character. Workshops were held with Dr Withington, and they sang two songs as a massed choir. They were awarded with a Korimako Award at the Gala Concert.
