We are thrilled to see the high achievement of Year 11 student Abby Bleakley, who recently took 2nd place in the SGCNZ/Ida Gaskin Shakespeare Essay competition.

This is a national competition which runs alongside other Shakespeare events as part of the annual Shakespeare Festival. 

Abby travelled to the prizegiving ceremony in Wellington over King’s Birthday weekend and was presented with the prestigious award and $200 prize money for her essay exploring the tension between the desire of the individual and the aims of the state or family in The Taming of the Shrew and Romeo and Juliet.
