IRMT Chamber Music Festival

PNGHS —

With over 100 PNGHS students performing in everything from trios to large groups, both beginners and advanced players enjoyed a day of music making on 8 August 2021.

Organised by the local branch of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers, the event was held in the Huia Centre. Around 28 groups entered. The adjudicator was Simeon Broom, a chamber musician and violinist with the NZSO.

L Plate:                   Flute Burst, 2nd=
Chamber Group:     PNGHS String Orchestra, 1st, The Barrett Sisters Trophy
                              PNGHS Concert Band, 2nd
                              PNGHS Guitar Orchestra, 3rd
Ensemble (4-8):      Fermata Thin Air, 1st, Dellow Cup
                              PNGHS Jazz Band, 2nd=
                              The Accidentals, 3rd
Ensemble (Trios):     Mostly Treble, 3rd

PNGHS Trophy:                   Amico Trio, awarded for a noteworthy performance by an unplaced                                                 ensemble group
McNeill MPACS Trophy:       The Accidentals, awarded for a noteworthy performance by a non-                                                   winning (mainly) string group
