Some reflections from students:

Renae Adrian

Being a part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has taught me to push myself outside of my comfort zone. It has enabled me to connect with lots of different people, which has helped me to learn more about myself as well as develop my social skills, like communication and working in a team. This whole experience has given me life skills that will help my future.

Lucy McLean

My favourite part of the Award was the Adventurous Journey section. Through the people I have met, the experience I have had and the memories made, I am so grateful for the opportunity to complete my Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Emi O’Conner

Completing the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has always been a significant goal of mine, ever since I first embarked on this journey at the beginning of high school. Throughout this journey, I had the opportunity to forge strong friendships with like-minded peers as we worked together to achieve a common goal, creating lasting bonds through our shared experiences. I developed essential skills, while being reminded to appreciate the small things in life. It pushed me physically and mentally and taught me how to make a positive difference in my life and the wider community. It has been a transformative experience.

Esther Steer

Completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award pushed me in new ways. The adventurous journeys took me to remote, stunning places I would never otherwise have gone to, and on the way, I met incredible people. When it came to my service, physical activity, and skill, the Award taught me the power of consistency. Overall, I feel like I have grown so much as a person since I first began my Bronze Award years ago.
