Shave for a Cure

PNGHS —

Abby Bleakley, one of our Year 9 students, will be shaving her head for charity on Wednesday 19 October.

Her goal is to make $2000 for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand, and she has already been sponsored over $1400 from family and friends. We hope to get her over the line with her generous and selfless dedication to this worthy cause. She will be shaved on the outdoor stage during lunchtime. Students are invited to come along to support Abby and can donate with coins on the day, or by making a deposit via the Shave for a Cure page: https://shaveforacure.co.nz/a-bleakley. Abby will also be holding a Bake Sale on Monday of Week 3 as an additional fundraiser.

Abby made the decision to do the shave back in January after seeing someone else do it and realising that there is something she can do personally to help people who are struggling through difficult treatments and bravely dealing with the impact of cancer in their lives. She will be donating the majority of her hair, which will be cut off in 4 ponytails, to provide wigs for cancer patients. Abby is nervous about being on the stage in front of everyone, but is excited about the day finally drawing near, and her goal being achieved.
