Goodbye to long serving staff
We are saying goodbye to two long serving teachers this year.
Amanda Peacock:
Amanda is retiring this year after having worked for us for the past 19 years initially joining us a Netball Co-ordinator in 2004. As a primary trained teacher, Amanda has had a very varied and flexible teaching programme while with us, including English, Social Studies, PE, Acting Head of Learning Support and more latterly in the ACT department. She spent 13 years as a Dean, 11 of them as Year 9 Dean and was instrumental in promoting our Semper Sursum programme. She has been an enthusiastic, positive, vibrant and inspirational teacher. We wish her all the best for her retirement and look forward to her joining our Day Relief Pool. Ngā mihi nui, Amanda!
Kate Sione:
Kate joined us in 2011 as Kate Leighton, relatively new to teaching having completed two years at Waiopehu College after graduating from Massey. She now leaves us Kate Sione; wife, mother and step-mother and vastly experienced Art and Art History teacher as well as a working and renowned artist in her own right. She has been a Manutaki (Within School Kāhui Ako Leader), Assistant Head of Art, Pasifika Lead Teacher, Wearable Arts co-ordinator and Scholarship Art teacher. Kate has won promotion to Head of Art at Whanganui Collegiate and we wish her all the best for her new role.
