ANZAAE Conference
A team of Visual Arts teachers attended the ANZAAE Conference at Rangi Ruru Girls Secondary School in Christchurch from 21 - 23 April.
ANZAAE is the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Art Teachers. With over 500 delegates, it was an amazing atmosphere of learning and collaboration, reinforcing the understanding that Visual Arts education is progressive and in good stead to meet the learning needs of our rangitahi as we head towards the future.
There was a focus on the NCEA review of standards, resource development, Maori and Pasifika education reform, future pathways, curriculum design, and student wellbeing, to name but a few aspects. Keynote Speakers included Professor Peter O'Connor, Nigel Borell, Regan Balzer, and Professor Welby Ings.
The attending Visual Arts Teachers were Helen MacDuff, Jo Samson and Tania Lewis-Rickard. This small video clip is but a taste of their whole experience, as the team divided time between a multitude of keynote speakers and workshops.
Your teachers are full of enthusiasm as they look forward to sharing new ideas, philosophies and learning strategies with their students.
