We had five teams entered in the Te Puke o Te ika (Regional) Waka Ama Championships on Friday 3 March.

The event had a large field of paddlers from the Bay of Plenty and central North Island. All of our teams did the School proud by placing in the heats and two crews making the finals. 

A highlight was the manner in which the teams encouraged and supported each other. The experience ignited the students' passion for the sport and there are plans for the crews to train together and prepare to enter future events. 

The team was supported by Hoe Aroha o Mauao steerers and three staff members.
