Shaving For a Cure

Mrs Jaki Lee - Teacher —

The Leo's Club decided to do this crazy thing for a great cause.

On Friday 25 March the Pāpāmoa College Leos Club shaved heads, and students donated their "Crazy Hair" mufti day funds to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer (LBC) New Zealand.

All up the Leo's raised $4,293 for LBC, special mention goes to our top fundraisers, Will Thomas Y9, who raised an amazing $912, (the fabulous Pippa Russell was right there behind him) and Barbara Moraes de Oliveria Y12 who raised $580.

Teacher Ken Killkenny raised $435 and got students interested by shaving the week before, Daniel Forsyth Y12 raised $294, Cayden and Riley Worthington Y8 together raised $319 and Llewelynne du Toit Y13, who had 5 sponsors.

Also thanks to relieving teachers Hazel O'Leary for donating her hair and Des for being a wonderfully supportive husband, and making a last-minute decision to do the same!

The LBC charity is dedicated to supporting patients, and their families/whānau, living with blood cancer or a serious blood condition.

We want to help find more effective treatments to save lives and make sure people with cancer get the support they need to get through.
Did you know that eight people will discover they have blood cancer today? That’s a scary statistic.

If you would like to donate, please support our team effort at Shave for a Cure.
