The Legendary Leos!

Mrs Jaki Lee - Teacher —

Leadership, Experience and Opportunity is the Leo Club motto, and these devoted young people realize the power of action! Check out their amazing achievements and plans for 2022.

The Leo Club is an extension of the Lions Club, and Pāpāmoa College Leo's is just one of 30 Leo clubs nationwide. We have around 50 student members from years 7 to 13.

"The Leos club .. was created to encourage students to take a larger interest in the leadership and organisation of their school and wider community. We meet every Wednesday at lunch, where different year groups share their ideas and experience on how we can help others."

On-Going Projects:

  • Running the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Club once a week – students from different age groups mix and mingle to play various board and card games.
  • Helping in the Pāpāmoa Lions Market food truck every second Sunday.

Activities Completed this year so far:

  • Empathy Week – joined the international Empathy Week, and distributed posters and international videos for each day of the week. Ran a daily competition for guessing the empathy quote of the day.
  • Bake Sale for NZ Autism’s Children’s Party – raised $351 for 6 children to attend.
  • Mount Everest Challenge – Encouraged students to climb the Mount 38 times, provided cards to log climbs and distributed a QR code for fundraising.

  • Shave for a Cure – Raising funds for Leukemia and Blood Cancers. See Shave For a Cure article for details.
  • Bake Sale for Rescue Revive Rehome (RRR) – Bake Sale on Friday 8 April -Raised $320.10 for RRR to help with vet bills, food, toys and other needs for pets. 

Planned Activities:

  • Helping the GSA Club - run their Bake Sale for Aids fundraising and Pride Week activities
  • RRR - Collection boxes for pet food and toys
  • Foodbank - promotion of the Foodbank to be a mufti recipient
  • 40 Hour Famine – Friday 1 July – Sunday 3 July 2022 We will try to beat our fantastic total of over $8000 last year. 5 Leos are going to the World Vision Student Leader Conference in May.
  • Daffodil Day – Friday 26 August - Fundraising, selling daffodils (fresh and fabric) and cards 
  • Mo-Vember – Week One Term Four.
