Staff learn about Ngā Pōtiki Culture and History

Pāpāmoa College —

Pāpāmoa College Staff had a unique opportunity to learn about the local Iwi, Ngā Pōtiki, on Monday 24 April.

Along with staff from other schools in the area, they spent the day visiting four culturally significant sites in the Ngā Pōtiki Rohe. The trip was a great way for us to enhance our understanding of the local culture.

The four sites visited were Tahuwhakatiki, Te Tumu, Wairākei, and Mangatawa. Each of these sites has significant cultural and historical value for the Ngā Pōtiki people.

The trip was an excellent opportunity for staff to develop a deeper understanding of the local community and build stronger relationships with the Iwi. We left feeling enriched and motivated to incorporate the knowledge into our day to day lives.

The visit to the Ngā Pōtiki sites was part of a broader initiative by the school to build stronger relationships with the local iwi.
