Students Loadup!

Mrs Bronwin Severinsen Kairuruku Rapuara / Careers Coordinator —

These Year 13 students have been gaining valuable insight into the Ports and Stevedoring Industry through the new MITO initiative, Loadup.

Students Kobi Anderson, Llewelyne du Toit, Rkihana Hefferan, and Caden Boyd Zame (pictured) visited the port on Tuesday 3 May, as part of the LoadUp Programme introduction.

LoadUp offers secondary school students the chance to earn NZQA approved micro-credentials in the Ports and Stevedoring Industry. Credits go towards NCEA and students get a great introduction to the workplace.

The industry offers a number of career opportunities – including port administration, cargo handling, and heavy machine operation. Our students now go once a week to 5 different sections of the port.

For more information about LoadUp see this brochure or talk to the careers department.
