One of our Year 11 students in our Future Focus programme, Dominik Mayfield, is tackling real life environmental issues with his project that he has submitted as part of the Bay of Plenty NIWA Science and Technology Fair.

 Out of 110 exhibits from 13 schools from within our region, Dominik achieved 3 awards for his Mussel Shell Exfoliator innovation:Department of Conservation Science Award BOP Regional Council Environmental Award 2nd Place Senior Secondary Technology “An added bonus is that this product could be used to replace toxic microbeads that were banned from New Zealand in May of this year and have been or will be banned in many other countries around the world as well,” says Dominik.
