Fire Evacuation Drill

Mr Nathan Rillstone -Director of Property & Development —

On Monday 27 March, the students and staff of a school participated in a Fire Evacuation Drill. The drill was conducted to ensure that everyone in the school was aware of the procedures to follow in the event of a fire emergency. The drill was a success, with all students being evacuated through the construction tunnel safely, and to the designated safe zone in under six minutes.

Key messages from our Fire Drill:

  • Keep calm.
  • Move from an area of higher risk to an area of lower risk.
  • When you hear the alarm or the evacuation notification on the speaker system, follow the instructions and make your way to the evacuation assembly point (Safe Zone-see below).
  • Triple checks will be done to ensure all spaces are cleared.

Over the course of the year, the school will be conducting fire, tsunami, and lockdown drills to ensure that everyone is prepared for any major events. The school administration also urged parents to discuss the importance of taking these drills seriously and following the instructions of the staff during these drills.

By conducting regular drills, the school is ensuring that everyone is aware of their responsibilities in the event of an emergency and can act calmly and quickly. Working together, we can ensure the safety and well-being of all members of our school community.
