Deputy Head Student - Riko Davis

Riko Davis - Deputy Head Student —

I went to a small school called Wa Ora Montessori in Lower Hutt Wellington. I was schooled there from preschool until Year 7. I moved to Pāpāmoa College at the beginning of Year 8.

During my years at Pāpāmoa College I have been largely involved in the volleyball program from the beach to indoor and coaching to playing. I have also been a part of the leadership teams for a while now being a Whanau Leader, camp leader, being part of the senior leadership team and now Deputy Head Boy.

I’m quite excited to be a Head Student, I feel that the team and I will be great this year. In terms of goals, in the past, I have really appreciated the opportunities that have been given to me by the school and I have jumped on most of them. I feel that most people take for granted what their school can do for them. If I hadn’t come to Pāpāmoa College I wouldn’t have discovered my love for Volleyball and the places it could take me. Also outside of school trips like a visit we did to Waihi to learn about Māori art and History near Karangahake Gorge. I also really want to encourage people to find sport as I did. I know it isn’t for everyone but it’s still nice to see people giving it a go. As a personal goal, I am keen to see an increase in lunchtime sports and want to actively be a part of making it happen.

For my future, I am considering options in the fields of sport, media and hospitality.
