Government Donations Scheme

Mr Steve Lindsey - Principal —

Papamoa College has opted into the $150 Government Donations Scheme for 2020. While this is not really a donations scheme and more a government payment to the school, it will have implications for next year.

By opting into the Government Donations Scheme for 2020, it means the school will receive $150 for each enrolled student with the condition that the school does not ask for any donations from parents/caregivers for any curriculum activity

An exception to this, is that for camps (events that are overnight), the school may ask parents/caregivers for a donation towards the costs. Because of the costs for some camps, and we are unable to cover the costs, then the event may not occur. Any optional activities (e.g. sport, clubs, gifted and talented activities) will still incur a charge as they are not considered part of the curriculum.

Papamoa College is committed to provide learning opportunities and an educational environment that is rich, varied and of excellent quality for all of our young people. The challenge here is that schools are finding it increasingly difficult to fund the very wide range of learning activities that are expected. We will be continuing to explore additional ways to generate income for the school.

In addition we will still require the very valuable support and assistance of our parents, caregivers, whanau and community, and look forward to working with you in the future. We will keep you informed regarding any ways in which we can continue to partner together to provide the best possible education for your child.
