Year 8 student Caitlyn Fortescue competed in the NZ Rock Climbing Speed Nationals held at Blake Park, Mount Maunganui on Saturday 5 February.

Caitlyn competed in female Group C (born from 2009 - 2010). Competitors raced against each other over 3 races with qualification for the finals-based climbers' best times over three climbs. 

Caitlyn made the finals with ease and won the final with a time of 11.456 seconds.
