We thank you for those who also took the opportunity to write comments.

While comments were wide ranging across all categories, the two areas which received the most number of comments were regarding the poor behaviour of some students and dealing with such incidents, and the sports programme within the school.

Student behaviour and dealing with incidents

Many comments referred to particular student behaviours, in and out of the classroom and how teachers and leadership dealt with situations. The ability to provide effective consequences for poor student behaviour was also a common theme. Some comments indicated that their child had received good support from the school when they needed it.

Student behaviour and conduct in a school is an area that is constantly changing, but should always be improving. Over the next term the school will be focusing on gathering more specific information around specific student behaviours and evaluating processes when dealing with incidents. There could be future opportunities that will invite you to provide additional comments/feedback to assist the school to strengthen how we approach student behaviour.

Sport & Recreation Programme

Comments regarding sports mostly revolved around 1. the need to increase the numbers of opportunities for students to be involved in sport, 2. the facilities and equipment available for growing sport and recreation, and 3. the support and personnel involved in the sporting programme. While some comments reflected the positive development of sport over the last few years, there is the view that we can continue to improve in this area. With the appointment of our new Director of Sports & Recreation, we are beginning the process to develop a strategic plan for Sport & Recreation at Papamoa College for next 5+ years. While the school continues to grow with increasing numbers of students and a larger campus, the objective is to establish a clear and achievable strategic plan to move forwards with.

The Sports & Recreation strategic plan will require the input from all stakeholders, and therefore comments/ideas from parents, caregivers and whanau will be an important part. This process will also be conducted over the next term.
