Bugsy Malone!

Liz Proudlock - Drama Teacher —

Eighty five students have been working hard over the past term on our whole school production Bugsy Malone. Most lunchtimes, after school and in the holidays, students have been practising their acting, singing and dancing.

Bugsy Malone is set in the 1920s on the streets of Chicago where there is vicious gang war between the sassy Dandy Dan and the mobster King Fat Sam.  Bugsy Malone, our unlikely hero, is hired by Fat Sam to assist him to beat Dandy Dan and his dastardly plan. Along the way Bugsy Malone meets the love of his life, the sweet and charming Blousey Brown. She has her eyes on Hollywood, to make it as a singer and to live the American dream.

Not only is this a toe tapping musical, there will be a difference in how the audience views this show. People purchasing tickets will have an option to sit and watch the production as a regular audience or be part of Fat Sam’ club and sit at a table with a drink and eats. Dancers, and actors will be performing around the tables to make the audience feel like patrons at the club.

There will be 4 nights of performance from Tuesday 30 July to Friday 2 August.

The tickets go on sale later this term.

Come and see Papamoa College’s amazing actors bringing this classic story to the stage! Get ready to be splurged!
