Head Student - Phoebe McLaren

Phoebe McLaren - Head Student —

Kia Ora, I am Phoebe Mclaren and I am one of the Pāpāmoa College Head Students for 2022.

I began my journey at Pāpāmoa College as a year 7 in 2016. I have enjoyed getting involved in the wider school life of the school, I am heavily involved in many sports that the college has on offer.

Throughout the last 7 years, the school has grown greatly in more than one aspect, the culture within the school has certainly grown for the better. I have been in many different leadership roles within the school which have helped me grow into the person that I am today and have set me in good stead for this head position. I always look for new opportunities to arise through the school that I am able to put my hand up for and get involved in. Last year I was lucky enough to be granted a scholarship to attend Spirit Of Adventure which is an experience I would recommend to everyone!

For this year I look forward to working alongside the other head students, teachers and other students in leadership positions throughout the school to continue the promotion of Trademarks, Lunchtime sport and Whānau events that happen throughout the year. I would like to encourage students to get involved and get out of their comfort zone, in school activities both in and out of school.

A big goal of mine is to continue to encourage the school culture within the school and increase the sense of unity between the year levels so that students feel comfortable and supported through their time at Pāpāmoa College. I feel privileged to have been selected for this position of head student and look forward to doing this position justice through the duration of 2022.
