40 Hour Famine

Mrs Jaki Lee - Pouako Matua Tauhokohoko / Teacher in Charge of Commerce —

Year 12 students Parneet Kaur and Aiswarya Bhandari walked an amazing 40kms for their 40 Hour Famine effort on the first weekend of July.

Today, 800 children died because they didn’t have clean water. And another 800 children are at risk of dying.
Every, Single, Day
  • Children have to miss out on school to walk up to 6km to get water for their families
  • When their water is dirty, they have to drink it anyway, even though every sip can make them sick
Right now, we have everything it takes to give everyone, everywhere clean water yet;
  • 780 million people lack basic drinking water access; more than one in ten people on the planet
  • Women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours, hauling water every day

This year our Leos' Club have aspirations to raise $10,000 to help those in need. The 40 Hour Famine was officially held on Friday 1 - Sunday 3 July but all funds banked by Friday 29 July will count towards the total announced by World Vision for 2022, so it's not too late to donate!
