Futures Academy Kicks Off

Mrs Bronwin Severinsen - Careers Coordinator —

Futures Academy Trades programmes have started for 2023.

Our Senior Students have the opportunity to enrol in the Futures Academy to combine their school learning experience with meaningful trades training with one of the education partners.

Students engage in vocational/trades-based programmes that pathway to apprenticeships, employment, skills-based qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework, or further tertiary trades training.

51 Pāpāmoa College students have begun their trades programmes. These include Construction, Automotive, Engineering, Hospitality, Pest Control, Sport Leadership and Hair & Beauty at Toi Ohomai. IT Support taught at EmployNZ. Gaming animation, film and digital business at Yoobee College and NZ Certificate in Diving at Dive Zone in Tauranga.

36 of our Toi Ohomai students (pictured above) began their trades programmes with a powhiri and orientation day on Thursday 9 February at the Windermere campus. Students met their tutors, toured the campus and shared lunch.

Find out more about our Futures Academy on our Pāpāmoa College Careers Education Website.
