Ethan Thompson, and two others from Trades Academy Toi Ohomai, entered a regional Live Cook Off Competition.

This was held at Waikato University under the scrutiny of University judges. The contestants had to choose two dishes to cook on site, just like a TV cooking show with judges walking around watching, other competitors cooking beside you and the pressure of time against you.

Ethan’s dishes were mango poached chicken and chocolate coffee cake. For these dishes Ethan won a bronze medal. 

What did Ethan enjoy most? Ethan said he loved the whole experience, even the pressure as it made him “focus and be mindful of what I was doing.” His goal now is to enter another competition and do even better.
