Principal's Message

Mr Iva Ropati | Principal —

Dear parents and caregivers

Thank you for your support since the beginning of the year as we transition into some higher expectations for our students and our school.

Last year we completed a community parent survey and received some valuable feedback about what we could do better. In response, our board and staff have made some commitments that we are starting to see some positive improvements in, student behaviour, pride, communication and student engagement. We appreciate that it is still early in the year and acknowledge we still have much to do. I thank all our parents/caregivers for the support to date.

One of the items that seemed to be of concern was the use of cell phones in the school. As part of a longer term inquiry, one of our learning communities, have already banned cell phones in the classes and this has already shown significant student engagement improvement. It is anticipated that we will make some further changes once we have completed our review.

I am encouraged by how our students are wearing their uniform in and outside of school. As winter fast approaches, we anticipate that students will need to acquire regulation uniform items that are appropriate for the colder temperatures. Please refer to our website for further information.

From the start of term 2, I am leading a community review relating to our school vision and values. This is an opportunity for us to either reconfirm or reimagine our vision for the future. It is also an opportunity to check whether our current vision and values are fit for purpose, given where we are at as a school. Further information about this consultation will be provided early next term.

Thanks again for your support and we endeavor to ‘excite our community to inspire our learners’

Regards

I L Ropati
