Device Access in Delta Level 2

Papamoa College —

TEACHING AND LEARNING

Given the uncertain nature of a post-COVID world, we want to encourage and enable learning that can happen anywhere, at any time, and in a way that allows all learners to reach their highest potential. Students learning with devices will allow us, as a school, to develop digitally literate citizens who will be best placed for using technology in their worlds outside of school in a considered and responsible way.

Our kaiako / teachers will be continuing to share learning activities using the Google Classroom platform to support learning and assessment. This will allow our students access to learning whether at home or at school.

DEVICE ACCESS IN DELTA LEVEL 2

As part of our extra health control measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep staff and students safe; the school will NOT be distributing Chromebooks block to block or day to day. Shared devices are considered high-touch and must be cleaned and disinfected frequently. This could lead to upwards of 1700 device sanitations a day. This is not sustainable practice for our staff. As such, we are making every effort to reduce the sharing of equipment and ensure students have access to a single device for learning.

  1. Students should bring their own devices to school each day for learning (small handheld devices (mobile phones) are not suitable devices for learning).

  2. Students who have been issued a ‘loan device’ to allow them to engage in ‘Learning from Home: Online’ will be able to continue to use those devices and bring them to school for learning each day.

  3. Students returning to school in Delta Level 2 who are unable to bring a device to school may request a ‘Loan Device’ here. As devices are limited, we ask that you be considerate and only request a device if it is absolutely essential for your child to be able to connect with their learning.
