Mr Ben Ormsby | Deputy Principal —

The Senior Boys' Volleyball team were lucky enough to travel to Australia to participate in the 'Australian Schools Volleyball Cup'.

This is the Australian version of our national championships. This year the event was held on the Gold Coast and over 400 teams from around Australia and New Zealand participated. This event is the largest Secondary School event in the southern hemisphere with over 4500 athletes.

Last week our Senior Boys' team competed in the highest grade, Open Boys' Honours. The quality of the competition was impressive. The first two days the boys' had a win and loss on each day. The wins were v Maribyrnong High School from Melbourne and The Gap College from Brisbane. We had further wins v's Rossmoyne High School from Perth and Mazenod College Melbourne. The team had a very close loss to Kings College Sydney in the playoff for 9th-10th.10th place in Australia was a good effort considering the overall level of competition was high.

The boys' learnt a lot, developed their skills and made new friendships over the course of the week. The tour was the first of its kind for Pāpāmoa College and provided a unique experience for our students, something not many other schools in New Zealand offer.

The MVP from the tournament for our team was Willem Koning, Best Attacker was Riko Davis and Most Consistent was Luka Moffitt.
