HEEADSS assessments

Mrs Woody Vahey - School Nurse —

Adolescence is a time of growth and development, it can be challenging for some.

In an attempt to support our rangatahi with any challenges and to identify any barriers to learning, the school nurses Woody Vahey and Kathryn Sharples will be conducting health checks over the next two terms using the Ministry of Healths' “HEEADSSS” assessment tool.

This will be mainly aimed at Year 9 students and will include discussions around physical health, growth and development, eating/exercise, school & home, drugs & alcohol, sexuality, mood & safety. Any health risks identified will have the appropriate support offered to the student and whanau.

If you wish to opt-out from having the check done, or would like to discuss this further please contact the nurses Woody or Kathryn on 07 5420676 ext 2028.

Health Centre Survey

The School Health Center will be conducting a small paper-based and confidential survey in the last 3 weeks of term 2. This survey will be offered to students so we can assess their views on the School Health Service and see if any improvements are needed regarding their future health needs.
