Meet the fabulous lead characters of our upcoming production of Fame Junior. Shows will run from Wednesday 26 October- until Saturday 29 October in the School Theatre, tickets are available from reception.

Meet 'Nick' AKA James Ferns

James Ferns (Y10) will play the role of 'Nick'. James is well known to audiences around the Bay of Plenty. He has already performed the lead role in some amazing shows.

In 2020 he played the role of Troy in our production of High School Musical Junior, and in 2021 James played the role of the Dormouse in Alice in Wonderland.

As part of the Tauranga Musical Theatre, James played the lead role of Peter in the January 2022 production of Peter Pan, in May this year he played the role of Rafiki in the Lion King.

James says the character of Nick in Fame has been a fun journey so far and he can’t wait to perform on stage for the four performances.

Meet 'Serea Katz' AKA Videl Harrison

Videl Harrison (Y8) will play the role of 'Serea Katz'. As a Year 8 student Videl has been heavily involved in the performing arts at Pāpāmoa College.

Videl is a singer and guitarist in the Lit band. Last year she won the Year 7/8 Speech Competition and was a winner of many singing competitions, she also played the role of a Card Gardiner in our school production of Alice in Wonderland.

Videl says the Fame Junior production has been a great way to connect with people and get out of your comfort zone. Videl plays the role of Serea Katz, a shy actress at a performing arts school, who shows an interest in another lead character, Nick. 

Meet 'Tyrone' AKA Vinny Haynes

Vinny Haynes (Y9) will play the part of Tyrone. Vinny is well known on the stage at Papamoa College, two years ago, as a year 7 student, Vinny played the part of Ryan Evans in High School Musical Junior. Last year he was Tweedledee in Alice in Wonderland.

This year Vinny rises to the challenge of playing the tough character Tyrone in Fame Junior.

Tyrone Jackson is a talented dancer, but he wants to use his talent and skill his way rather than conform to the school's rules. He is constantly switching between his tough-guy persona and a young man trying to woo Iris.

Meet Carmen Diaz AKA Taylah Medeiros 

Taylah Medeiros (Y10) is new to the production scene. Last year was her first year ever being involved in a school production. She was in the ensemble for Alice in Wonderland and this year pushed herself out of her comfort zone and auditioned for a lead in Fame Junior. What a great job she did! 

Taylah plays the role of Carmen – This lead character is a dance major who is confident and sassy. Her ambition is to make it big in the industry as she is obsessed with fame. Taylah as Carmen dances, sings and acts. It is a big role and Taylah has risen to the challenge.

Meet 'Iris Kelly' AKA Bella Harley

Bella Harley (Y7) is excited to be playing the character of Iris. Iris is a talented ballet dancer who is believed to be very wealthy but during the show, we find out that this is not the case. 

Bella has performed in several dance shows, comps and exams for many years however this is her first school production. She is looking forward to seeing Fame hit the stage.

Meet 'Mabel' AKA Sienna Hanley

Sienna Hanley (Y8), is enjoying the role of Mabel. Mabel is a loud and overweight dancer and singer who is desperate to shed weight but can't resist food.

Sienna was involved in Alice in Wonderland last year in the ensemble and is excited to have a speaking and singing role this year. She has a long list of musical theatre experiences which she brings to the part of Mabel and is looking forward to singing her solo song Mabel's prayer.

Meet 'Goody' AKA Ollie Sutcliffe

Ollie Sutcliffe (Y9) plays the part of Goody (Goodman King). Goody is a musician which is quite applicable to Ollie who is in one of our Pāpāmoa College bands called Protocol. He is a talented guitarist and has played in Rockquests and at venues as part of this band.

Ollie played the role of Jock in High School Musical Junior in 2020. He is enjoying the challenge of acting, singing and dancing once again.

Meet 'Mr Myers' AKA Nathan Brown

Nathan Brown (Y9) has been cast in the role of Mr Myers, he is the acting teacher in the show. As the fun/chill teacher out of the 4 teachers, he is focused on helping his students achieve and perform a musical show. 

Nathan has been involved in two other productions in the past, a lead called Chad in High School Musical Jr and the March Hare in Alice in Wonderland. Nathan has loved doing both productions in the past and is excited to perform in this year's one.
