Pink Shirt Day

Pāpāmoa College —

On Friday 20 May students and staff dressed in pink to raise money and show their support for the Annual Pink Shirt Day anti-bullying campaign.

The theme of Pink Shirt Day is anti-bullying and appreciating diversity, this includes homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic bullying.

There was a big lead-up to Pink Shirt Day with discussions and activities in whānau time. On the Friday we celebrated with:

  •  Games and activities by the Tauranga Youth development team
  •  A free sausage sizzle.
  •  Photobooth
  •  Prizes for best dressed
  •  A Leo club bake sale
  •  Candy floss was on sale
  •  A marshmallow guessing jar

Over $1,300 was raised by the college. Overall the National Pink Shirt Day 2022 was the most successful one yet, with 40,300 t-shirts sold and more than 2,400 donations, and over $659,000 raised for the Mental Health Foundation!

Pink Shirt Day donations help fund InsideOUT which runs Creating Rainbow Inclusive Schools workshops throughout Aotearoa.

In addition to the photos below, the Photobooth Lady captured nearly 90 photos & Boomys which can be viewed on this Public Gallery link:
