Student Volunteer Army

Mrs Kylie Price - Whanau Leader —

Papamoa College has joined the Student Volunteer Army (SVA). This is a nationwide initiative that started from the Christchurch Earthquakes in 2011 when the university students wanted to help out.

All of the senior students (Y11-13) students are signing up. They will log their hours on the SVA website and in turn, will be able to print a summary of service and gain badges as they log their hours. Students' pathway teachers and CSS (Community Service and Study) teachers will help to track their hours and find places to volunteer.

The Blue pin is awarded after 5 hours logged.
The Bronze pin is awarded after 32 hours logged.
The Silver pin is awarded after 250 hours and The Gold pin is awarded after 500 hours.

Every year we also award a Green pin to the student who has volunteered the most hours.

The summary of service is a great tool to print out when applying for jobs, polytech or universities, as it is recognised nationwide.
