Twenty four, of our level three OED students together with four staff left on Tuesday 20 August to embark on a journey to Mt Ruapehu for Snow Camp 2024!!

Beautiful Ohakune and the Ventura Lodge was our destination. After a 6am wake up call on Wednesday morning we headed up to the Turoa Ski Field to sort our hire gear and participate in lessons with the instructors.

The following two days were amazing with fresh snow, bluebird conditions with the group enjoying a mixture of lessons on the lower and middle mountain and teacher-led missions to the top slopes.

Unfortunately Friday’s weather forced cancellations to all runs above the learner slope, so the decision was taken to enjoy some of Taupo’s indoor attractions at Drop Zone.

The group was fantastic, the weather superb and we all arrived back having created some lifelong memories. 

Big shout out to Mr Dirkse’s organisation, Mr Van and Mrs Reid for their patience, humour and expertise guiding us on the mountain and Mr Hay’s shuttle service….. Yeeeeah!
