Morticia Addams aka Abbie Jacob (Y13)

Ever since Year 7, I have been in the lead cast for our school plays. In Year 7 I was in the Oliver Twist section playing Mr Brownlow in a classical musical 'I Am'. In Year 8, I played Aurora Charming in 'How Charming'. I then did 'Bugsy Malone' in Year 9, playing the female lead, Blousy Brown. Next came 'Be More Chill', a student-directed production where I played the villain called the Squip. That summer I did a Tauranga Musical Theatre production of '13 The Musical', where I played Molly. In Year 11, I was Alice in our production of 'Alice in Wonderland'. In Year 12 I was given the opportunity to help students direct a couple of scenes along with tutoring the singers in the production of FAME Jr.

I am a very active person and enjoy having a lot on my plate, so this show definitely does me good! I love the rehearsals and hanging out with the cast!

This is my last show here at Pāpāmoa College, which makes me feel so sad as I’ve made such good memories yet so happy to have had the opportunity to experience them!! I can’t wait to put on my best performance at my last high school show! :)

Gomez Addams aka Riko Davis (Y13)

I’m relatively new to the drama scene of Papamoa College, I started taking Drama last year in year 12. I haven’t done any productions for the school in 6 years I have been here, the last show I did was in my year 7 at my old school where I played the part of Little John in a play of Robin Hood.

I’m really enjoying how the process is going. It’s such a fun and supportive environment and I’m surrounded with people who all share a similar passion for the arts. I enjoy playing the part of Gomez because I can play with how he is portrayed. As an actor, it’s always fun to play someone who is completely different to how you normally are. It is really pushing me outside of my comfort zone, especially in terms of how I use my voice with accents and singing, along with learning how to dance.

I haven’t done a production in years so this is a big step for me both as an actor and as a person. As the Deputy Head Boy of Pāpāmoa College I’m no stranger to crowds and in my Drama class we have done some smaller shows in front of audiences but not to this scale. I’m really looking forward to the finished product I think it’s going to be great, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the show we have such an amazing, talented cast and crew.

Wednesday Addams aka Tallulah Haynes (Y12)

My name is Tallulah Haynes and I am playing the role of Wednesday Addams in the upcoming production.

My acting journey first began back in my second year at Pāpāmoa College where I auditioned for Bugsy Malone and got the role of Louella. Even though I only had a couple of lines, I fell in love with the production environment and took every drama opportunity I could. Being a part of High School Musical and playing Tweedledum in Alice in Wonderland, acting led me to pursue other musical interests such as classical singing, drums, piano and dance!

I am most looking forward to sharing Wednesday's iconic personality with you all. I've never played a role quite like Wednesday before and I have enjoyed it every step of the way. I can't wait to give the show a dark yet comedic twist! In particular, I am finding this year's rehearsals twice as much fun and I can't wait to perform in July!

Pugsley Addams aka Vinny Haynes (Y10)

I have performed in several past school productions, High School Musical, Alice in Wonderland, and Fame.

I really enjoy being in the production, its an amazing experience. Being in the Addams Family has brought the whole cast closer together. We look forward to performing for you.

Grandma aka Maija-Layna Bernards (Y11)

I have never been into acting. I left 2 productions and didn't always enjoy drama class. I preferred to stay in my comfort zone. That was until last year I decided that I wanted to improve myself and try getting involved in anything I could. I joined a drama club and found that actually, I have a passion for performing. I got back into drama class and deeply wanted to star in the production. So I auditioned and looked where that got me. Grandma Addams. A year or so ago I wouldn't have dreamt it.

It is always nice to hear everyone laughing and getting along at rehearsals. It is fun talking to everyone as well. It really makes stepping out from what's comfortable to you worth it. Thinking about the production nights is exciting as I can't wait to show my friends and family what we have been working on. They are the ones who encouraged me to audition in the first place. They did this by just being there for me and I wanted to make everyone proud. I couldn't have done it without them.

Fester Addams aka Oliver Spence (Y9)

I have been performing in shows since I was nine years old when I performed in The Merchant of Venice for Tauranga Performing Arts. I played the cook in Alice of Wonderland two years ago and had a lead role in Fame last year.

The Addams Family is my favourite production so far, with more freedom to add my own flavour to the role.

Lurch aka Daniel Forsyth (Y13)

In this year's production, I play Lurch, the Addams Family's famous lugubrious butler, this is the first and only year that I play a major role in the school production.

While that is the case, I have had an extensive history of acting. I distinctly remember playing the small role of an orphan in the 2017 production of I Am and, ever since, I also have acted in various drama clubs, more specifically the Detour Theatre, which has given me some great advice over the years. I also had mainly worked backstage and played a cameo role in 2021's Alice In Wonderland and have played the role of an American in the absurdist play, Cow, which my drama class had performed back in 2022.

Personally, I would consider myself a method actor of sorts and it's so fun getting into character and playing such a fantastical character as Lurch. I also have had fun playing off of the other actors inside of the production as well. I am looking forward to performing the show and I can't wait for the audience to see it!

Mal Beineke aka Tom Scriven (Y13)

Hi, I'm Tom, I play Mal Beineke in the Addams Family, which I'm so excited about doing because I love drama and this character has a lot of funny moments and not so much singing. I was an ensemble in several productions in year 9 and back, but my first main role was as The Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland the musical last year. I'm finding this production a lot more chill, we are a much smaller cast than previous productions. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how much fun everyone has watching the show and I hope you come along!

Alice Beineke aka Maysen Mitchell (Y13)

I’ve been in every available school production since I started at Papamoa College in 2018. I’ve had lead roles in shows such as How Charming, Bugsy Malone, Be More Chill and Alice in Wonderland. I love being in musicals, I’ve been singing since I could talk and I enjoy acting as well. Being able to showcase my passions on stage and entertain audiences is a privilege I’m very grateful to have.

So far the rehearsals have been enjoyable. The soundtrack for this show is amazing and it’s wonderful to put on a show with a storyline and characters that people are familiar with. I love the dark, gothic aesthetic of the costumes and set as well. Anyone who’s been in theatre knows that rehearsals come with stress, but the end result is always worth it. You get to make strong connections with your castmates, learn about musical theatre and have heaps of fun in the process! I’m in Year 13, which means this is the last school production I’ll ever do. It’s a very bittersweet time for all of us, I’m sure the other Year 13s in the cast will agree. More than anything I’m excited to put on an amazing show for the community to see! Our cast is incredibly talented and dedicated to putting on a spectacular show. We certainly hope you’ll enjoy it.

Lucas Beineke aka James Ferns (Y11)

James loves Theater and is always looking for more shows to be involved in. His first role was Troy Bolton in Papamoa Colleges High School musical but since then he has played multiple roles in other shows some being TMT youths Peter Pan, Lion King, Newsies, High School Musical 2 and Papamoa College’s Alice in Wonderland Jnr and Fame Jnr.

James is enjoying Addam's family and is loving working with such a Talented cast.

Thing aka Jayden Holdaway (Y11)

I have been in at least four Pāpāmoa College Productions during my time at the school, including a lead role in Bugsy Malone, High School Musical, Alice in Wonderland and Fame.

I am liking the kooky nature of The Addams Family, we are able to have fun on stage with a 'looser' style of direction than in previous shows. It has been heaps of fun so far!
