Learning Through Sports Camp

Ms Jenna Mackay - Associate Dean and Head of Learning Through Sport —

Thirty-five Year 10 Learning Through Sport students went to Tōtara Springs from Monday 20 May until Friday 24 May, to compete against other schools in 38 sporting opportunities across five days.

The days were long, kicking off each day bright and early at 9:30 am and wrapping up by 9:30 pm.

We are thrilled to share that we made it to the semi-finals, finals, or won in almost 50% of the sports we participated in! Here's the list of sports, with our standout achievements in bold:

Archery, Athletics, Basketball girls, Basketball boys, Bowls, Chess, Cricket, Croquet, Cross Country, Draughts, Darts, Football mixed, Frisbee Golf, Hockey mixed, Hockey boys indoor, Hockey girls indoor, Hole in one Golf, Human Foosball, Indoor Soccer boys, Indoor Soccer girls, Longball, Mini Golf, Netball, Petanque, Rock Climbing, Scramball Shooting, Softball, Spikeball, Swimming, Table Tennis boys, Table Tennis girls, Totara Tag, Touch boys, Triathlon, Tug o War, Volleyball girls, Volleyball boys and Wallball.

Overall, our team placed SECOND which was a huge achievement. Despite the rain, thunderstorms, flooding, niggly injuries and limited sleep, our student's resilience and grit impressed us; especially in our exceptionally close semis and finals.

They also had the looming CAA's at the forefront of their minds, hence multiple study sessions throughout the week too!

Looking forward to challenging the trophy again next year!
