Year 9 HEADSSS Assessments

School Nurse —

The school nurses see students for a range of health concerns, including health education, mental and sexual health.

We aim to enhance the well-being of students so they can focus on learning and living safely while feeling supported at school. We work very closely with our guidance counsellors and pastoral team.

A central focus of our work is working alongside Year 9s, where we are employed to complete a HEEADSSS Assessment. This is a thorough youth-focused assessment mostly comprised of questions to gain a sense of all areas of health and identify how we can offer support and guidance through the adolescent years.

Please let us know if you choose for your child to opt out of this screening.

We also offer confidential appointments to students for existing health conditions or to address new concerns/needs.

We follow Best Practice guidelines from our Primary Health Organisation, with the aim being:

"to enhance all areas of well-being, to support students in making safe, informed choices and be able to focus on their learning."

We also have a local GP who runs a free clinic in school weekly for issues that may need doctors' input. Students can make an appointment with us through student services or email.
