Well done to our Year 9 students, Quinn Mulcahy, Cruise Green, Emily Mardon and Arwen Christian, who competed really well in the 2022 EPro8 Technology Challenge.
Another exciting day at the y9/10 Grand Final of EPro8.Our teams fought hard with the top 12 teams.Pap Col 2 (Emily Mardon, Arwen Christian, Sophie Bowling - all y10 - and super-sub Phoebe Mardon -y7) came away in 9th place.Pap Col 1 ( Quinn Mulcahy, Cruise Green- both y10 - Sophia Kim - y9 - and Reily Christian - y7) came away in SECOND place, only 40 points (ONE task!) below the winners. Such an awesome day out with these kids. Now time to start prepping for next year!
EPro8 is an inter-school science and engineering competition, it involves a series of technology and electronics-based challenges where the four teammates must work together to solve criteria and build amazing things.
At the first round of competition on Friday 3 June, the team made a mechanised bed with an alarm clock that flipped to get a person out of bed. They finished fifth and qualified for the Semi-Finals.
At the Waikato-BOP Semi-Finals held at Waikato University in Hamilton on Wednesday 29 June, the team built an epic self-drumming drum kit (pictured below) and finished in 9th place.
Great work team!
